Chemistry 11:  Today we finished Lab 16A and we handed this in before we left.  You have no homework over the holidays.  Have a terrific time!

Science 10:  We made careful drawings of the earth, sun, axis of rotation, equator, and an observer in Revelstoke to show how low the sunlight is angled on this Winter solstice day.  We handed in the Constellation Mini-Lab and you were asked to share pg 313 # 1-9, as much as you have done. You have no homework over the holidays.  Have a terrific time!

Chemistry 11:  Today we handed in the Atomic Theory Practice Test then did the Unit Test.  After break we completed the procedure for Lab 16A, and made a start at the Questions.  Nothing is due on Friday.

Science 10:  Today we learned how to log into myed bc to view grades, attendance and more.  Everyone emailed the login info to their parent/guardian.  We made a mini-flippit Constellation guide, using the instructions shown below in blue.  This is due on Friday.

Make a Constellation mini-guide with 2 Circumpolar constellations and 3 Other constellation.  Include the pattern of stars, the names of the stars, and what months they can be viewed from Revelstoke.  Write about the mythological stories associated with the pattern.  Include how to find them using pointer stars, or how asterisms within them are used to find other objects.   Put a useful title on the front.

Science 10:  Lab 4A on Page 16, which is all about Constellations.  Do Part I, not Part II.  Don't do any discussion questions.  We also spent time learning about how the ISS stay's aloft, and does not crash back to Earth.

Chemistry 11:  Today we read about Polar and Non-Polar molecules (pg 200 - 202) and we did Problem #10 from within the reading.  We worked on the Atomic Theory Practice Test, which is due Thursday.  There will be an Atomic Theory Test on Thursday.  Some of us prepared Lab 16A, which we will do on Thursday.

Monday, December 17, 2018

Science 10:  With a partner or on your own, do pg 299 # 1,3,4 in quality point form.  It would be handy to read pg 292 - 297 forst.  Finish the WS on Free Body Diagrams.  We took notes on our Solar System, and watched the remainder of "Giants".

Chemistry 11:  Organic WS #2 due Tuesday.  Atomic Theory Pr Test due Thursday.  Atomic Theory Test on Thursday.

Thursday, December 13, 2018

Science 10:  Today we did the Gravitational Field Strength Lab, which is due on Friday (all Procedure, Question, and Practice Problems).  We read about the planets and made a list of the 3 most important facts for each planets (unless you think they are important ideas, you can avoid number facts and history facts).  This is not due Friday.  We watched the first 16 minutes of a documentary call "Giants".

Chemistry 11:  Today we took notes on Organic Chemistry, read pg 213 to 216,  and did a WS titled Organic Assignment #1 (due Friday) .  We started Lab 6D as well.

Chemistry 11:  Unit 8 # 53-55, 57-64.  We took notes on Ionic Bonding, and we looked at the rest of the molecules from Lab 12B and labelled their geometry, if applicable (tetrahedral, planar, linear, trigonal pyramidal)

Science 10:  We learned about the Earth-Moon System today.  We read section 12.2 and did problems 2-15 (half in point form, half in sentence format).

Monday, December 10, 2018

Chemistry 11:  Today we learned about how covalently bonded compounds are shaped by doing Procedure # 1,2,4 in Lab 12B.  There are no Questions or Conclusion for this lab.  I have yet to see your Lewis Dot Structures, so please have them stored safely.  There is a key on the side counter.

Science 10:  Today we wrote the Energy Unit Test.   There is no work due on Tuesday.

Friday, December 7, 2018

Science 10:  Today we finished the Solar System Model lab as well as the Energy Practice Test.  Spend some time reviewing the Energy Unit notes, assignments, and labs for our Energy Test on Monday.  I will collect your Practice Test on Monday.

Chemistry 11:  Read pg 176 - 179 and do # 69-72.  Finish Lab 11A, but put a 15 minutes time limit on Part III.

Thursday, December 6, 2018

Science 10:  We did the Energy Practice Test today, and you will get a little more time for this on Friday.  We also did a short activity to model the solar system, which is not due on Friday.

Science 10:  We did the Energy Practice Test today, and you will get a little more time for this on Friday.  We also did a short activity to model the solar system, which is not due on Friday.

Chemistry 11:  We did parts I, II and III in Lab 11A today.  Only Part II is due Friday.  We also took notes on covalent bonding, and practiced writing Lewis Dot Structures for molecules and polyatomic ions that have a mixture of single, double and triple bonds.  The Lewis Dot Structures are due on Friday.  A few students need to write their Reactions Test still.

Tuesday, December 4, 2018

Science 10:  Today we worked through the heat lab.   All 11 Discussion questions from the hand out are due by the double block class, Wednesday or Thursday.

Chemistry 11:  Read sections VIII.1C, VIII.1D, and VIII.1E starting on pg 144.  As you read, complete Unit 8 # 13-20, 22, 23(c,e only).

Monday, December 3, 2018

Science 10:  We started with some review of energy.  We then learned about 3 forms of Heat:  Conduction, Radiation, and Convection.  We applied these ideas as we finished up the Calorimetry Lab.

Chemistry 11:  Today we wrote the Reactions Unit Test.
