Chemistry 12:  Today I collected the WS on Precipitation Reactions.  We worked through a few solubility problems together, and time was given to complete U3 # 40-51.  You have no homework to do over Spring Break.

42.Ksp = 3.0 x 10-11

43.  [Zn2+] = 4.5 x 10-13

44.  0.20 g PbSO4

45.  0.028 g BaCrO4

46.  Ksp = 0.00194

47.  [Ag2CrO4] = 6.5 x 10-5

48.  1.1 g/L CaSO4

49.  2.1 x 10-4 g/L

50.  Ksp = 1.1 x 10-49

51.  1.2 x 10-10

Science 9:  Took notes on Sexual Reproduction, read pg 81 and copied table 1 into notes, then did lab 3A questions a-d and g.

Chemistry 12:  We began with a discussion about Solubility, and when we do  precipitation reactions we exceed the solubility of one or both potential products.  Table 4 in our data booklet helps us determine which product will precipitate, using 0.1 M as the standard for being able to deem a salt as "Soluble".  Time was given for Unit 3 # 21-24, and to finish last day's assignment (U3 # 1-10, 18-20d).   Next, we set about determining the concentration of MgSO4 in Spotted lake, when evaporation causes the water to become saturated in this salt (and a few other sulphates as well). We completed the Precipitations WS Mini Lab, which is due next class.  Finally, we went through one Ksp problem - finding the concentration of Mg2+ ions in Milk of Magnesia.

Chemistry 12:  After a short demonstration of Conducting and non-conducting solutions and liquids, we took notes on Solution Chemistry.  Read 3.1 and 3.1.  Complete Unit 3 # 1-10 and 18-20d.  For Wednesday have # 1-10 & 18 completed, I will give you a little more time for the remainder on Wednesday.  You received your CLC interim today from me.

Science 9:  Click here to view the Notes on Meiosis.  Read pg. 74-77. Do Questions 4-6, 12-14 pg 78

Monday, March 14th.

Science 9:  Today we handed in Lab 2A, and we took notes on Asexual Reproduction.

Chemistry 12:  We completed the Equilibrium Unit Test today.

Friday, March 11, 2022

Chemistry 12: Today we spent time on the Equilibrium Practice Test, and if you gave me your completed practice test today I scored it and had it available to you at 3:10.  Thanks for your hard work.  Please review the answer key and visit me on Monday if you have questions.  On Monday we will have our Unit Test on Unit 2:  Equilibrium.  In the last few minutes of the day we learned about Spotted Lake, which is saturated in different sulphates, including Magnesium Sulphate during the hot months.   We learned a little of the history of this place, and how the Syilx Okanagan Nation regained control of it by purchasing the land parcel containing the lake.

Chemistry 12:  We began with a minireview of Keq, and followed this with more practice on equilibrium problem solving (Unit 2 # 58, 60, 22-28 evens only).  All of this is due Friday.  The Equilibrium Practice Test was handed out today, but is not due Friday.  If you complete it early, I will have it marked for you on Friday.  On Monday, we will have our Unit Test on Unit 2, Equilibrium.

Chemistry 12:  Today I collected U2 # 47-49 and 36-41.  We continued on our journey through equilibrium problems, learning about K trial as well as more complex problems.  For next class complete unit 2 # 50-57.

Science 9:  Today we learned about mitosis

Monday, March 7, 2022

Chemistry 12:  Unit 2 # 47-49 and 41 - 46 are due Tuesday.  I collected Lab 19B today.  Unit 2 Test on Monday.

Science 9:  Today we wrote notes on "Organelles important to Cell Division, we read pg 39 and 40, and we completed pg 41 # 4,7,13,16 (and optionally # 14 and 17).  We finished with a binder check and self evaluation form.  All this is due Tuesday.

Friday March 4 2022

Chemistry 12:  We took data today with the spectrophotometer.  Lab 19B will be due on Monday.  We also read sections 2.4 and 2.5, and completed Unit 2 # 21-27 ( odd numbered questions).

Science 9:  After our Chemistry Test we took notes on Organelles important to cell division.  We read pg 39 and 40 but the problems on pg 41 are not due on Monday.

Tuesday, March 1, 2022

Chemistry 12:  Today we took notes on the Spontenaeity, then we read section 2.3.  Due Thursday is unit 2 # 14-16.  Lab 19B is due Monday.

Science 9:  We marked pg 254 #1-16 after using our Atom Posters to review atomic structure and standard notation.  We completed the Chemistry Practice Test, which is due Wednesday.  Your Chemistry test will be on Friday
