Chemistry 12: Lab 18A was returned to you - nice work!  We took notes on Catalysts, then we read section 1.11, 1.12, and 1.13.   Unit 1 # 56 - 61 is due on Thursday, as well as the Reaction Rates Practice Test.  On Friday we will have a Rates of Reaction Unit Test.

Thursday February 17th, 2022

Science 9: We began by completing our Element Observations, and followed this by writing Bohr Diagrams for the first 20 elements.  We read pages 161 -163, and completing pg 164 # 1-5, 8, and 9.  In the second half everyone was assigned a unique isotope and we made a poster showing its atomic structure.   pg 164 is due Tuesday, but not the Poster.

Wednesday, February 16, 2022

Chemistry 12:  We took notes on Reaction Mechanisms.  We read sections 1.9 and 1.10, and the following questions are due next class:  Unit 1 # 41-52, 54, 55.  We looked at Ozone and learned about how commitments made at the Montreal Protocol lead to the ban/reduction of CFC's in many places, and now we don't worry about decreasing ozone in the troposphere, in fact it is rebuilding according to recent research.  You were given your Kinetics Practice Test today, and it will be due next Thursday.  Your Kinetics Test will be next Friday.

Monday, February 14, 2022

Science 9:  Today we measured and calculated to determine the density of 4 materials that you chose:  a metallic solid, non-metallic solid, water and a colored liquid.  Organizing your data and calculations as well as showing math statements are essential to making your work readable.  For Tuesday, have all of your calculations completed.

Chemistry 12:  We reviewed the answer keys to this Rates Mini Review #2 WS, then we took notes on Enthalpy.  Time was given to complete U1 # 23-28 as well as Lab 18A.  The entire lab and conclusion is due on Wednesday.

Friday, February 11, 2022

Science 9:  We practiced 10 names and formulas of ionic compounds, then spent time completing Lab 5A.  Lab 5A is due next class (analysis a-h in sentences).

Chemistry 12:  We took notes on the recent topics we have covered, the we completed this review assignment.  Time was given for Lab 18A.

Thursday, February 10, 2022

Science 9:  We began with a short review, them we learned how to name and write formulas for binary ionic compounds, like Sodium Fluoride.  We did 10 practice problems, then set up Lab 5A.  In the second half we completed Lab 5A to learn about the chemical change that occurs when a candles is burned.  You will be given time to complete Lab 5A on Friday.  Make sure that pg 208 from Tuesday is complete.
