Chemistry 11:  Today we reviewed Bohr Diagrams, and learned about electron configuration.  We did Lab 11A Parts 1 and 2 procedure only, and these are both due Thursday.  No usual write-up for this lab (no title, purpose, data, questions, or conclusion).

Chemistry 12:  Today we did Lab 20H Part I, which involved calculating the pH at various points in a titration, and graphing them.  The graphs are not due Thursday, but the calculations are.  We also worked on Lab 20G, and had a homework quiz on pH and pOH calculations.

Chemistry 12:  We took notes on Weak Acid and Weak Base Equilibria, then we read pg 129 - 132. Unit 4 # 35-40 is due Monday.  No time was given for Lab 20G, so time will be given on Monday.

Chemistry 11:  After a short review we worked on the Reactions Unit Practice Test.   I checked the Titration WS, and the green stoichiometry WS.  We will have a test on Monday on the Reactions Unit.

Chemistry 11:  Today we started with the Titration Calculations WS, then we finished Lab 20C, then we started the Reactions Unit Practice Test.  The Reactions Unit Test will happen on Monday.  Both the Titration WS and Lab 20C are due Friday.

Chemistry 12:  Today we worked on Lab 20G, and for homework we did the WS titled "Review of 25-30 Plus".  I will check # 28-34 from Unit 4 on Friday, as well as the WS.  Nice work on all your titrations today.

Chemistry 12:  After a short review, we took notes on the Equilibria that happen in Aquaeous Solutions of Acids and Bases.  We read Sections 4.7 and 4.8 and did Unit 4 # 28-34.   These are due next class.   In the last 10 minutes we went over the key points while titrating that maximize accuracy.

Chemistry 11:  All the Questions are due on Wednesday.  Your Reactions Test will be on Monday.

Chemistry 12:  We started off with a short review of Sections 4.1 to 4.3, and I checked that U4# 1-19 are done.  We took notes on Strong vs Weak acids, after which we read 4.6 and did Unit 6 # 21-24, 26,27.  These problems are due Tuesday.  Lab 20G was prepared, and we finished Part I and some of Part II.  We will continue with Lab 20G on Tuesday.

Chemistry 11: Today we did lab 20C Part I (Questions 1-3) and we worked on the legal green Stoichiometry WS.  Both are due on Tuesday.  Our Reactions Unit Test will happen on Friday next week.  Nice work on your very first titration!  We will do Lab 20C Part II on Tuesday.

Chemistry 11:  We started off with a 15 minute discussion focused on writing good Conclusions, definitely a challenging skill that requires practice.  Lab 6B (all Questions and Calculations, Follow-up Questions, and a Conclusion) are due Wednesday.  We also spent time on the green legal sized Stoichiometry Calculations WS.  The last 15 minutes was spent watching a Titration, a procedure used to find an unknown concentration.

Chemistry 12:  After a short review of key terms (proton, hydronium, muriatic acid, lye, battery acid, stomach acid) we took notes on Bronsted-Lowrey Acids and Bases.  We read Unit 4.1 to 4.4, and did # 1-14.  Towards the end we learned about Conjugate Acid-Base Pairs, and completed 15-19.  Your Solubility Unit Test marks are available on myed- well done!

Chemistry 11:  After a review of Endothermic and Exothermic reactions, we worked on Lab 6B, which is due on Tuesday.   I collected Unit 6 # 70 - 80.  Be sure to look at your progress on myed, the term is ending soon.

Chemistry 12:  Today we wrote the Solubility Unit Test after I collected the Practice Test.  Unit 4 # 1-10 are due on Tuesday.  Be sure to have at least one sour food item tonight, just to notice the taste of those Hydrogen ions, which we will often call protons.  ... proton covered candies... mmmm.  Be sure to look at your progress on myed, the term is ending soon.

Chemistry 11:   Today we did the first part of Lab 6B, and we read section 6.6 and did Unit 6 # 70-80.   The Unit 6 Textbook work is due for Monday.  I didn't get a chance to look at your long stoichiometry WS, so have it ready for me for Monday.

Chemistry 12:  Solubility Practice Test due Monday, the day of our Solubility Test.  Study topic in Unit 3 in Hebdon except there will be no silver chloride titrations.

Career Life Connections - 11  Day 3 of 4.

1.  Short discussion on the language surrounding Trades:  Apprentice, Journeyman, Red Seal, Ticketed, Master, Sponsor, ITA, etc.  Watch 4 "Find Your Fit" videos.

2.  Lifelong Learning and Active Citizenship create opportunities.  Short discussion of what these terms mean.  Grade 12 Scholarship list - star about 12-20 that look possible for you next year.  Brainstorm some ways to build your resume (what would be fun for you that would build your list of LLL and AC ?) that will better your chances of winning these scholarships.

3.  Create or update your resume on myBlueprint.  Cut and paste into myBlueprint if you have an updated resume stored somewhere else.   Once you are logged in, left tab Work, choose Resume, then add one or work with your existing.  Update and complete these Resume Sections:  Contact Information, Education, Work Experience, Extra-Curricular, Volunteer Experience, Certifications, Hobbies and Interests.

-Spelling, grammar, punctuation must be perfect - make Ms. Atamanuk proud!
-Use many verbs when describing your work or volunteer experience [called Accomplishments in myBlueprint].  Here is a general Verb list, or google verbs specific to your work tasks.

4. Ensure that the tasks from the previous 2 classes are complete by checking previous blog entries.

CLC-11 Day 2 of 4.

1.  Read the following article on work-place etiquette:  "9 Teen Job Etiquette Tips"
2.  Follow the instructions on Hand out [C].
3.  Be sure that all of the Surveys are complete in the "Who am I" side tab n on your myBlueprint homescreen.
4.  Try compatibility surveys for each of the top 3 occupations found in the "Match Results" top tab.
5.  Navigate to the Work BC Career Trek website and view videos that describe your top 3 occupations, or occupations similar to them.
6.  Ensure that all of Monday's tasks are complete.

Chemistry 12:  Unit 3 # 29-33 and # 60-62 are due Thursday.  Thursday an early dismissal day.

Chemistry 11:  Today I collected Lab 6A.  We did a WS titled Limiting Reactant and Reactant in Excess, as well as a homework quiz.

1) Watch the Listen to your Gut Videos (all 3)

2) Watch the WHMIS Video

3) Read and Complete Hand-outs A and B.  If you are logging onto myBlueprint for the first time, the activation key is Revelstoke.

4) Ensure that your user profile is done properly ( properly filled in personal info, school:  Revelstoke Secondary School).

5) In the "Who Am I" tab on the left, complete surveys that you have not yet done.

6)  In the "Highschool" tab, update the courses in the "Plan" top tab.

Chemistry 11:  Today I collected the "Predicting Products WS".  Due next class is U6 # 1-4 as well as Lab 6A (Questions, Follow-up Questions, Conclusion).

Chemistry 12:  Today I collected Unit 3 # 44-55.  We spent time on Lab 19C and on Unit 3 # 56-59.  The Lab is due on Thursday and # 56 - 59 are due tomorrow, Tuesday.  The Solubility Unit Test will be on Monday, April 15.

Chemistry 12:  Today I checked unit 3 # 42-44 and 20 e & f.  We did Lab 19C (Questions 1-7, FUQ # 1-4, a conclusion).  We finished with a homework quiz.

Chemistry 11:  After handing in Lab 4D, we started with a mini review of Balancing, Unit 5 # 65 and any 12 from 67.   We did the first day's procedure of Lab 6A and we did Questions and Calculations 1a, 2a, 3 and 4.  We finished with a quiz on Balancing Reaction Equations and categorizing them.

Chemistry 11:  Today we reviewed balancing chemical reactions and did any 15 balancing problems from pg 110 and 111 in Hebdon.  They start easy and transition to very difficult - find the section that best develops your skills.  We also spent time on Lab 4D, which is due on Thursday.  In the second half, we reviewed reaction categories and took notes.  Do pg 118 # 66 any 15 categorizing problems, do not balance these.

Chemistry 11:  Today we wrote notes on Chemical Reactions, and we finished a WS titled "Writing Chemical Reaction Equations".  We spent time on Lab 4D too, and this will be due on Thursday (all questions and a conclusion).

Chemistry 12:  After writing notes on Solubility Product Constant, we read pg 90 and 91 and did Unit 3 # 40 and 41.  We finished the Solubility Lab (pink WS associated with your saturated copper (II) sulphate solution), which is also due Tuesday.
