Science 8:   We began by reviewing local mountain names, then a few speed problems.  We discussed the layers of the earth and how people figured out how the layers are arranged.  Lab 13E, which shows how seismology reveals the Earth's layers, was completed and is due on Wednesday morning. Chemistry 11:  First a short lesson on haloalkanes, then we read section 10.3 and completed Unit 10 # 17-19.  Unit 10 # 15,16 from last day was collected.    We wrote brief notes on Alkenes and Alkynes, then we completed Organic WS #4.  All of these exercises are due next class.  Click here to see the Chemistry 11 Assignment Log.

Science 8:  We began with a review of continents, oceans, islands, and mountain ranges and the Pangaea Cut and Paste was returned to you.   Then we learned how to calculate speed (also called velocity) with few examples.  This article explains Wegener's evidence for continental drift, and we completed all of the tables within the article after we read it.  With extra time we finished Lab 10D, including the discussion questions # 1-5.  This video is for Tuesday.

Chemistry 11:  We started with look at the calendar and spoke about how starting final exam review now is a good idea.  We reviewed some key terms, then worked with a partner to draw some molecules and name them.  We learned how to draw and name cyclic hydrocarbons too, then completed Unit 10 # 15 and 16 to sharpen our skills.  Ensure to draw the molecule and stated its name for each problem, and include all the hydrogens so that each C atoms has 4 bonds.
