Science 10:  We started with a review of Nuclear Science and Scientific Notation.  Click here for a copy of the Scientific Notation mini-review.  We then spoke about tomorrow's year end assessment.  See Tuesdays blog for details.   The last 40 minutes was spent on the year end practice assessment assignment.  Find a key in your Class Notebook, Energy Unit, Task #9 Hints page.

Science 10:  We started our lesson on Nuclear Science by watching the opening credits of "The Simpsons", and trying to notice all the ways that Homer tries to stay safe from the harmful effects of radioactive materials.  Using a shield, maximizing distance, and minimizing exposure time are 3 ways to limit exposure to harmful radiation.  We then looked at a Geiger Counter, which detects radioactive emissions and we saw some stones in the RSS mineral collection that are radioactive.  Today's assignment, Energy Task #8, is to read pg 228 to 232 about nuclear energy, and watch this short documentary about Nuclear Energy.

We talked about Thursday's Final Assessment Assignment, which will take 60 minutes.  Either you come to the school and write a paper version at 2:00 on Thursday, or you print your assignment (find it in the Files top tab in Teams) at home, complete it, scan/photograph it, then email it back to me.  You can also write your responses on your own paper, and email an image of your work to me.  The assessment will only be available from 2:00 to 3:00 on Thursday.  Contact Mr. Gale if you are not available on Thursday from 2:00 to 3:00.

Careers 9 Finale:  Navigate to Education Planner from our school website.  Look up one interesting training option for after high school i(called post-secondary training.  If you are looking for a Trade training option, the ITA website might be better.  In your myBlueprint Grade 9 Portfolio, write a short reflection about the program you looked up.  State what it is called, where it is offered, and how long it will take.  Describe why the program looks interesting to you.  Although the reflection is brief and should take no longer than 15 minutes to type out, show off your very best writing skills.
