Chemistry 11:  After a short review of Endothermic and Exothermic reactions, we did Lab 20C Part I and Calculations # 1-3.  We spent the second half working on the Reactions Practice Test.  There will be a Reactions Unit Test on Monday.  Chapters 6 and 7 in Hebdon are where you can find good practice on Chemical Reactions.

Chemistry 11:  After watching a video of the Lafarge-Exshaw concrete plant near Banff, we did a mini-review of Predicting Products.  Time was spent completing Lab 6B and doing a green sheet titled Stoichiometry Calculations.  In the second half we did notes on Energy Changes in Chemical reactions, read 6.6, and did Unit 6 # 70-80.  Due Thursday is Lab 6B and U6 # 70 to 80.  The long green WS is due Friday.  There will be a unit test on Monday on Chemical Reactions (excluding all titration problems).

Chemistry 11:  We started off with the long Stoichiometry WS, which is due Wednesday.  We also did Lab 6B, Day 2.  This will be due on Thursday, with a conclusion.  The Predicting Products WS is due Wednesday too.

Chemistry 11:  Today I collected Lab 6A, U6 # 65-67 (any 15), and U7 # 1-4, 6.  We continued with Stoichiometry and learned about Limiting Reactant and the Reactant in excess.  A WS titled "Stoichiometry and Finding the Limiting Reactant" is  due Monday.  We started Lab 6B and the Predicting Products WS and these are not due Tuesday.  Kelsey Gasparini came to tell us about the Glacier Adventure Stewardship Program, a free program where students explore local wilderness and learn skills such as navigation, back country camping, and photography.  A quiz on Balancing finished off our busy class

Thursday, May 20, 2021

Chemistry 11:  We started off with a balancing WS, and notes on Categories of Reactions.  Unit  6 # 65-67 (any 15 total) and Unit 7 # 1-4,6 are due Friday, as well as Lab 6A.  Everyone received an interim report card today.

Wednesday, May 19, 2021

Chemistry 11:  We did Part II of Lab 6A first, then we did the Moles Unit Test.  We finished off with practice balancing chemical reactions.

Tuesday, May 18, 2021

Chemistry 11: Lab 4D was handed in today.  We took notes on Chemical Reactions, read 6.1 adn 6.2, then completed the "Writing Chemical Reaction Equations " WS.  A short lesson on Balancing followed, then we prepared Lab 6A. The Procedure for Day 1 of Lab 6A was completed too.  The Moles Test will be Wednesday morning, first thing.

Chemistry 11:  Due Thursday is Lab 4B, and Unit 5 # 46 (a,c,e,f,h,k,j), 44/45 (any 2 problems), 59, and 61-64.  Click here to see today's notes on Molar Concentration.

Tuesday, May 11th

Today we started with a short Quiz, then spent time on Lab 4B (all questions, all Follow-up Questions, Conclusion].  For conclusions, follow the guidelines on the pink Marking sheets, not the instructions in the text.  We also learned about Percent Composition, and did any 9 problems from # 44/45.  We finished with a brief intro to solutions and concentration.

Monday, May 10th

Chemistry 11:  Lab 2E was collected today.  After a review of moles ideas, we did Unit 5 # 15, 21, and 22 (any 18 problems total).  In the second half we did Lab 4B and a quiz. Only the 18 problems are due on Tuesday.

Friday, May 7, 2021

Chemistry 11:  After our Unit 1 test we spent time  finishing Lab 2D and preparing Lab 4B, which we will perform on Monday afternoon.  We are also did Unit 5 # 8 & 9 (any 12 problems total).  We spent time learning about Gases, (read pgs 81-84), and we did Unit 5 # 11,12, 16, and 17. All of this is due on Monday.  Click here to see the notes we wrote on Moles of Gases

Tuesday, May 4, 2021

Chemistry 11:  Today I collected the Density Lab and Unit 4 # 1-3 and any 20 from # 4 & 5.  We watched a short clip on Aluminum.  Due Wednesday is Unit 4 # 6, 7 and any 6 total from # 4 and 5.  Lab 3A is also due Wednesday (All Questions and Calculations, and Follow -Up Questions #1-3, no conclusion).    Test on Friday.
