Earth Science 11: We spent time working on the Cloud powerpoint assignment today. Make an 11 slide Powerpoint. After the title slide, make 10 slides with different cloud types. On each, include a photo, the Cloud name, and one or two notes about the cloud. To share it with your instructor, save the Powerpoint to your "One Drive" and use a descriptive file name. In your One Drive, right click the file and share. Type ggale in the recipient line, and it will fill in the rest.
We learned about Global Weather patterns, Hadley cells, and the Coriolus Effect, that steers moving air to the right. After a little reading, we created a mini assignment with 3 multiple choice questions on Global weather. This will be due on Friday. We finished with a Documentary on Weather. Finally, a quiz on the Orographic (Mountain) Effect.
Junior Girls Volleyball: See the Junior Girls Volleyball blog on the school website - click here. Thanks Mr. Rourke for posting such an awesome blog! Today we depart at 1:50 pm for league play at VSS. Practice on Friday. Armstrong mini-tournament on Saturday (return your special permission forms into the office by Friday.)

Science 10: Today I collected the Sexual Reproduction in Flowering plants mini research assignment. Have it ready for my Wednesday if you were away last Friday. We learned about Mendel's experiments with peas, and wrote some notes together. Section 17.2 from the old Science Probe 10 was read individually, and # 2-6 was done.
Earth Science 11: I looked at and recorded the Dew Point activity from Friday. We took notes on the Orographic Effect, so we now know why we live in a rain forest. We did a WS on the Orographic Effect and on Cloud names. This WS is due on Thursday. On Thursday, we will spend 30 minutes in the IT Lab, completing the Cloud Powerpoint. Please share this with me (ggale@sd19.bc.ca) when you are done.

Science 8: The "Cup Experiment" was collected today, after we added the Title, Purpose, and Materials section to the front. We made a place mat and learned about Nutrient Categories by reading pg 64 - 69. On Tuesday we will mark pg 63 # 1-10.
Science 10: We started with a quiz on Human Reproductive Anatomy. We went to the library to research how flowering plants reproduce sexually. The Assignment, which is due Tuesday, is outlined below in blue.
Earth Science 11: We started with a mini review on Atmospheric Science topics and cloud formation. Then we did a worksheet where thermometers were read in order to determine the Dew Point temperature for several scenarios. We finished with a You tube video called Luke Howard, the man who named the clouds.

Meiosis, Sexual Reproduction, and Heredity Science
10
At the
library, you will spend 20 minutes learning by reading, and taking brief
notes. Allow yourself about 5 minutes of
video learning, and use your headphones.
Spend 20 more minutes creating a mind-map or mini poster that answers
these questions:
A
How
do flowering plants reproduce sexually?
B
In
what structures do meiosis, fertilization, and embryo development occur?
Finish this
for Tuesday, but limit yourself to 20 minutes of focused work outside of class.
Marking guide:
-Point form
notes are created that attempt to answer the questions posed.
-Miniposter
shows some level of organization.
-There is
considerable connection between Questions A and B and the content on the
miniposter.
-The amount
of detail and number of key terms show that new learning has occurred and is
consistent with a 60 minute deadline.
-you are able to explain your miniposter to
someone verbally
