Chemistry 11:  We completed the legal sized WS titled "Finding Limiting Reactant and Reactant in Excess, and we did Day 1 for Lab 6B.  For the lab, Calculations # 1 a, 1b, and 2-4 were also completed.

Tuesday, November 5th

Chemistry 11:  We completed the WS titled "Limiting Reactant and Reactant in Excess" WS, and we tried a practice quiz on writing reaction products.  A little time was provided to prepare Lab 6B.

Science 8:  Today we did the Heat Experiment parts A and B (Conduction and Convection).  No work is due for this Experiment.  We also completed the Chemistry Practice Test, and this is due on Thursday.  Your test will now be on Tuesday.

Chemistry 12:  We took brief notes on Altering the Solubility of a Salt, then we read 3.10 and completed # 81- 86, which is due on Thursday.  Our Solubility Test will be on Wednesday November 13th.

Science 8:  We reviewed electrons, protons, and neutrons before we finished Lab 10-3.  All the Analyze and Conclude and Apply problems (in fine sentences) are due tomorrow.  This clip shows the interactions between saline water and fresh water at an estuary.  We will have a Chemistry Practice Test on Tuesday, and a Chemistry Unit Test on Thursday.  In the last minutes we learned briefly about determining the frequency of repetitive motion, such as wave forms.  This site has wave animations, and we determined the frequecy of both the transverse wave and the longitudinal wave.   We also watched Usain's 9.58 s 100m race in Berlin, and found the frequency of his footsteps.

Chemistry 12:  We completed a short review WS on Solubility topics, then read section 3.5 (separation of ions by precipitation) and completed Unit 3 # 26 - 32 and 37-38 (due Tuesday).  Ensure that all the Unit 3 practice problems are complete, because we are close to a Solubilily Unit Test (Tuesday, November 12).  So far we have completed Unit 3 # 1-10, 15, 18, 20a-d, 40-52, 56-66.  Whew! You have learned a lot in the first half of this course.

Chemistry 11:  Lab 6A was collected today.   After a mini review of writing products and balancing reactions, we read Hebdon Section 6.6 and completed # 68-80 (due Tuesday).  If there was time, preparing Lab 6B is a good thing to do, but this is not due Tuesday.  In the last minutes we wrote a quiz on writing products, balancing, and stoichometry.

Science 8:  The WS titled Measurement Review was handed in today, after a short review.  Today we did Lab 10-3, using the kits we made on Wednesday.

Chemistry 12:  A review sheet called Review of 3.1 to 3.6 was completed first, with an answer key posted at the side.  We tried unit 3 # 59 and 65 together, then completed Unit 3 # 56 - 66, which is due on Monday.  Click here to see an answer key.  I should now have Lab 19C.

Chemistry 11:   After a short review on determining products and balancing, we learned about stoichiometry.  Due next class is Unit 7 # 1-4.  A little time was provided to finish lab 6A, which is due on Monday.
