Chemistry 12: We began the Acids and Bases Unit today with some sour candies and brief notes. We read section 4.1 to 4.3 and completed # 1-10 in Unit 4. The second half was spent completing the Solubility Practice test - WR #6 is not fair and can be omitted. Click here to see the key. The practice Test is due on Tuesday, and the Solubility Unit Test is on Wednesday.
Science 8: We marked part of the Chemistry Practice Test, which was due today. The answer key is posted here. We worked on the Heat Lab today. First was a demonstration of Convection, and we sketched the convection tube and explained in brief point form how convection currents occur. Part D was a more advanced experiment to see which metal was the best conductor: Steele, Copper, Brass, Nickel, or Aluminum. A bar graph was drawn to show the results and everyone was asked to sketch a superior cooking pot with lid, showing the best places for specific metals to be used. We finished off by learning about angles and how to draw them carefully.
