Science 8: We began Geology with a short lesson on Seismology. This clip shows how a seismomeeter works. We watched a few short clips on earthquakes filmed by security cameras. Chemistry 11: The Dead Sea Lab was completed, and your lab report was completed on the Solubility Lab WS. Due Tuesday. We began the Organic Unit with a short slide show about the mining petroleum. Click here to see the Chemistry 11 Assignment Log.
Friday, December 12th
Science 8: We reviewed the sheep's eye lab, lenses and mirrors. We completed the Waves and Optics Practice Test, which is due by Monday. Our Unit Test will be on Tuesday. In the final moments we reviewed continents, oceans, and large islands (Greenland, New Zealand, Madagascar, Vancouver Island, Japan, Borneo, etc). Click here to see the Science 8 Assignment Log.
Chemistry 11: First we looked at answer keys for the Concentration of Ions WS. We spent some time discussing how "like dissolves like", meaning that polar compounds can dissolve polar compounds, and non-polar substances can dissolve non-polar substances.
