Science 8:  Today we learned about atoms, then briefly explored the contents of the Periodic Table of the Elements.  We observed about 20 different element samples, and wrote the name, symbol, and physical characteristics in a hand made table with 3 columns.  If you were away, you can look up 20 elements on the web and/or use items around your house to see elements in their elemental forms (diamond or pencil lead(carbon), gold, copper, air (oxygen, nitrogen),  silver, helium, aluminum, zinc, iron).  No homework for Tuesday.

Science 8:  Today we made a temperature-time graph for a mystery metal.  From it, we determined the melting points and boiling points.  In a rare moment of poor judgement, the instructor invited students to use their web connected phones to determine the mystery metal's identity.  Lead.  At the end of the day, the Density Lab and Lab 7-4 (Change of State for Water).  No work was assigned for Spring Break.

Science 8:  Today we created a graph of Temperature vs Time for the Change of State for Water lab and we answered pg 256 "What did you find out?" questions.  We did a short lesson on Density, and read pg 260-264.  We did # 1-6 on pg 263 and # 1-4 on pg 264.
