Science 8: We listed all the food we ate from Sunday lunch to now, including snacks. We learned about major biomolecule groups (proteins, fats, carbohydrates) and identified which foods gave us these nutrients. We watched this clip about the digestive system, then read pages 64 - 69 in our texts. The final minutes were spent finishing the Digestive System diagram (label and color). Quiz on digestive system anatomy tomorrow.
Science 10: After a short review of triangulation, we played with spectroscopes to see the colored bands of light produced by light sources (fluorescent light fixure, snow, He, Ne). We read pages 341 - 346 and wrote brief notes on each of the properties that astronomers use to categorize stars (luminosity, color, temperature, composition, mass). We completed activity 4-C on page 348, which is due next class.
Chemistry 12: We wrote brief notes about pH and pOH, then we read page 134 - 139 and completed U4 # 49-52. In the final portion of class we worked on Lab 20G, which is due Friday. Make sure to read the pre-lab and post-lab discussion for Lab 20G.
Friday, April 25th
Chemistry 12: We finished the procedure for 20G today. Try to have Calculations for Parts I and II completed for Monday. Ensure that all Unit 4 problems from Hebdon are up to date - see previous posts.
Science 8: Page 49 # 1-5, 7-12 was collected at the start of class. We finished the Gummy Bear lab, then we used the human model to learn about the anatomy of the digestive system. The Gummy Bear lab is due Monday, and needs to be handed in.
