Science 8: We reviewed cellular respiration and photosynthesis, then we wrote brief notes on Movement across a Cell Membrane. We read pages 40 - 45 (like usual, we read the titles and subtitles, and found the last word to read) and completed page 49 # 1-5 and 7-12 in sentences. Second half we completed the Gummy Bear Lab. Due next class is page 49 and the table on Human Body Systems. Thank you Ms. Rodman for your tremendous efforts with our class!
Chemistry 12: We completed Lab 20G, as much as possible, today. Titration extravaganza. Nothing is due for Friday, but please ensure that you have completed all the textbook questions detailed in previous blog posts.
Wednesday, April 23rd
Science 10: We went through answers to the Galaxy WS, then handed it in. We completed a mini-lab to review optics concepts: convex lenses, concave mirrors, diameter, images, focal length, electromagnetic spectrum, etc. We read about telescopes (pages 322 to 325) then watched this short clip about the James Webb Telescope. We had a short discussion about the value and expense of such a telescope. Laptops were used to create a spreadsheet of important telescopes using Microsoft Excel. The column headings are : Telescope Name, Type of EMR, Location, Year Built, Who built it, diameter. Save the spreadsheet with a useful file name to your OneDrive in your Science 10 Folder. No homework, except to go outside on clear nights and look at constellations (Bootes, Big Dipper, Little Dipper, Leo, and Cassiopia are seen easily from 9:00 pm until midnight.
