Science 9:  Today I collected your Pond Water sketches.  Due Tuesday is pg 41 # 1-5, 7, 12, 15 in sentences where appropriate as well as the Cell Structure Worksheet.  We also viewed this video on cell structure:  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URUJD5NEXC8 ).   On Tuesday we will learn about the cell cycle and mitosis (Section 2.4, if you like to pre-read)

Chemistry 11:  We began with a short exercise on Scientific Notation (click here to view it) .  We took notes on the Categories of Matter (click here for a copy), then filled in the third column of our Matter table from Friday.  In the third column, provide 3 descriptions for each material:  (pure or mixture), (homogeneous or heterogeneous), (element, compound, suspension, solution, mechanical mixture).  We then read sections 1.2 to 1.6, and completed the map.  On Tuesday we will read pg 34 - 40 to learn about Significant Figures, then we will complete # 55, 56, 57 in Unit 4.  Check out this short clip on Petroleum, the key source for organic chemicals.
