Science 9:  We started with a short activity where we measured the voltage of several different batteries and sources.   A little time was provided to complete the Electronics Booklet, but this is not yet due.  We saw how moving magnets near coils of wire cause a voltage, and this is the basis for making electricity in generators.  This clip shows how electricity is produced from burning coal, and it require spinning generator like our own dam does.  We read pages 192 to 197 and completed page 199 # 2-6, 9, which is due next day.  Everyone received a paper progress report today.

Science 8:  We started with this world map where we labelled all 7 continents, all 5 oceans, and colored 3 countries you would like to travel to in the future.  We completed the Optic and Waves Practice Test next, and this is due next class.  We will have test on Wave and Optics on Monday. (all learning since March 4th). In the second half we wrote brief notes together on Seismology, and watched this clip showing a seismograph machine.  We read pages 233 - 236 in the old Science Probe 9, then we started Activities 11E and 11F.   This clip shows laser eye surgery that helps reshape the cornea.
